City of Poza Rica

597 Poza Rica CentroThe City of Poza Rica (formally: Poza Rica de Hidalgo) is located in the south-east state of Veracruz. The meaning of its name is "rich pool" because of its abundance of fish. It was founded in 1951 and has over 180 thousand habitants. The city offer a modern look with well-designed streets in contrast to other Mexican Cities.

 In the early stages of its existence there was a heavy petroleum industry. Nowadays is has to offer a wide variety of other industries as well. Poza Rica is an important commercial and industrial center in Mexico. 

The capital Mexico City is just over 200 kilometers away from Poza Rica. The UNESCO World Heritage Site of El Tajin is located just 15 kilometers away from Poza Rica.
